Vision
A close and caring view of the marginalised, poor and needy people of every community in Assam who are socially and economically backward, so that they gain lasting benefits.
A voluntary organisation working with women, older people, farmers, artisans and other marginalised communities across Assam through health, skills, livelihoods, water and environment programmes.
FSD Trust was founded under the leadership of social workers Sri Jayanta Borah and Sri Dipak Kakaty, with community development through social work as its purpose. At a general meeting in Panjabari, Guwahati, members formed an Executive Committee and registered the organisation under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
Since then the Trust has run vocational training, health programmes, environment and income generation work, cultural programmes and women's empowerment initiatives, with support from government departments, banks, foundations and research institutions.
Our work is concentrated in Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon and Biswanath, with water, environment and livelihood projects in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Bongaigaon and Lakhimpur.
